Geropogon hybridus merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Macaronesia, Eropa barat, Mediterania, hingga Iran. Nama ilmiah Geropogon hybridus pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Carl Heinrich "Bipontinus" Schultz pada tahun 1850.
