Gleditsia australis merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk pohon dari famili Fabaceae (suku polong-polongan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari China (Guangdong, Guangxi), hingga Vietnam. Nama ilmiah Gleditsia australis pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis William Botting Hemsley pada tahun 1887.
