Glossocardia bidens merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Tanzania, wilayah Asia tropis, subtropis, hingga Pasifik. Nama ilmiah Glossocardia bidens pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Anders Johan Retzius pada tahun 1991.
