Glycyrrhiza lepidota adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan menahun dari famili Fabaceae (suku polong-polongan) yang tumbuh dalam bentuk perdu kecil atau semak. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Kanada hingga Meksiko timur laut. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan american licorice. Nama ilmiah Glycyrrhiza lepidota pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Frederick Traugott Pursh pada tahun 1813.
