Gomphrena haenkeana merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Amaranthaceae (suku bayam-bayaman). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Peru hingga Argentina bagian utara. Nama ilmiah Gomphrena haenkeana diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Carl Friedrich Philipp von Martius pada tahun 1826.
