Gomphrena tenella merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Amaranthaceae (suku bayam-bayaman). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di wilayah Kepulauan Nusa Tenggara (Flores), Australia Barat bagian utara. Nama ilmiah Gomphrena tenella diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Christian Horace Bénédict Alfred Moquin-Tandon pada tahun 1870.
