Grewia picta merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk perdu atau pohon dari famili Malvaceae (suku kapas-kapasan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di wilayah Komoro, Aldabra, Madagaskar (Nossi Bé). Nama ilmiah Grewia picta diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Henri Ernest Baillon pada tahun 1886.
