Gymnema tricholepis merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Apocynaceae yang memiliki pola tumbuh memanjat. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Papua, Queensland utara dan timur laut, hingga Kaledonia Baru. Nama ilmiah Gymnema tricholepis diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Rudolf Schlechter pada tahun 1908.
Gymnema sylvestre var. lanceolatum Guillaumin Marsdenia tricholepis (Schltr.) P.I.Forst.
