Hackelochloa granularis merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di kawasan tropis dan subtropis Afrika, Eropa dan Asia. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan pitscale grass. Nama ilmiah Hackelochloa granularis diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Carl Ernst Otto Kuntze pada tahun 1891.
