Hedyotis purpurascens merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk perdu dari famili Rubiaceae (suku kopi-kopian). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah di wilayah India (Kerala, Tamil Nadu). Nama ilmiah Hedyotis purpurascens pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Joseph Dalton Hooker pada tahun 1880.
