Hepatica americana merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Ranunculaceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Kanada bagian utara-tengah dan timur hingga Amerika Serikat bagian utara-tengah dan timur. Nama ilmiah Hepatica americana diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Augustin Pyramus de Candolle pada tahun 1819.
