Heteropholis nigrescens merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di wilayah Sri Lanka. Nama ilmiah Heteropholis nigrescens diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama George Henry Kendrick Thwaites pada tahun 1956.
