Heteropogon triticeus merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Hainan hingga wilayah tropis Asia dan Queensland. Nama ilmiah Heteropogon triticeus diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Robert Brown pada tahun 1912.
