Heterotheca mayoensis merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma gurun pasir atau sabana kering di wilayah Meksiko utara. Nama ilmiah Heterotheca mayoensis pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Guy L. Nesom pada tahun 2019.
