Heterotheca rutteri merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma gurun pasir atau sabana kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Arizona selatan hingga Meksiko (Sonora utara). Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan rutter's false goldenaster. Nama ilmiah Heterotheca rutteri pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Joseph Trimble Rothrock pada tahun 1951.
