Hibiscus aethiopicus var. ovatus adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan menahun dari famili Malvaceae (suku kapas-kapasan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di wilayah Afrika Selatan dan kawasan tropis Afrika bagian selatan. Nama ilmiah Hibiscus aethiopicus var. ovatus diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama William Henry Harvey pada tahun 1860.
