Hibiscus dasycalyx merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Malvaceae (suku kapas-kapasan). Spesies ini memiliki kebiasaan tumbuh pada genangan air (helofit). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis di wilayah Texas. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan neches river rosemallow. Nama ilmiah Hibiscus dasycalyx diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Sidney Fay Blake pada tahun 1958.
