Hibiscus discophorus merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Malvaceae (suku kapas-kapasan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma gurun pasir atau sabana kering di wilayah Namibia. Nama ilmiah Hibiscus discophorus pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Bénédict Pierre Georges Hochreutiner pada tahun 1910.
