Hibiscus socotranus merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk perdu dari famili Malvaceae (suku kapas-kapasan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma gurun pasir atau sabana kering di wilayah Socotra barat laut. Nama ilmiah Hibiscus socotranus pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Grenville Llewellyn Lucas pada tahun 1971.
