Hordeum muticum merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma pegunungan tropis dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Peru hingga Argentina bagian utara. Nama ilmiah Hordeum muticum pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Jan Svatopluk Presl pada tahun 1830.
