Hura crepitans merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk pohon dari famili Euphorbiaceae (suku kastuba-kastubaan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah di kawasan tropis Amerika. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan sandbox tree. Nama ilmiah Hura crepitans diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Carolus Linnaeus pada tahun 1753.
