Hygrophila costata adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan air (hidrofit) dari famili Acanthaceae (suku jeruju-jerujuan) yang hidup semusim. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di kawasan tropis dan subtropis Amerika . Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan yerba de hicotea. Nama ilmiah Hygrophila costata pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Christian Gottfried Daniel Nees von Esenbeck pada tahun 1824.
