Hypericum perforatum adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan menahun dari famili Hypericaceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Macaronesia, Eropa hingga China, Afrika barat laut, Sudan barat daya. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan common st. johnswort. Nama ilmiah Hypericum perforatum diperkenalkan oleh Carolus Linnaeus pada tahun 1753.
