Hypochaeris glabra merupakan tumbuhan semusim atau menahun dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Macaronesia, Eropa, Mediterania, hingga Jazirah Arab. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan smooth cat's ear. Nama ilmiah Hypochaeris glabra diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Carolus Linnaeus pada tahun 1753.
