Hypochaeris urens merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Italia hingga Aegean. Nama ilmiah Hypochaeris urens diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Carolus Linnaeus pada tahun 1753.
