Hypolytrum heterophyllum merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Cyperaceae (suku teki-tekian). Spesies ini memiliki kebiasaan membentuk rimpang atau stolon. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah di kawasan tropis Afrika bagian barat-tengah. Nama ilmiah Hypolytrum heterophyllum pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Johann Otto Boeckeler pada tahun 1888.
