Hypolytrum senegalense merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Cyperaceae (suku teki-tekian). Spesies ini memiliki kebiasaan membentuk rimpang atau stolon. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah. Nama ilmiah Hypolytrum senegalense pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Louis Claude Marie Richard pada tahun 1805.
