Hyptis lantanifolia adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan perdu kecil dari famili Lamiaceae (suku nilam-nilaman). Spesies ini memiliki kebiasaan tumbuh pada genangan air (helofit). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Meksiko selatan hingga kawasan tropis Amerika. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan island bushmint. Nama ilmiah Hyptis lantanifolia diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Pierre Antoine Poiteau pada tahun 1806.
