Ilex serrata merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk perdu dari famili Aquifoliaceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Texas hingga Meksiko (Coahuila dan Tamaulipas). Nama ilmiah Ilex serrata pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Carl Peter Thunberg pada tahun 1784.
