Ipomoea capillacea adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan dari famili Convolvulaceae (suku kangkung-kangkungan). Spesies ini memiliki kebiasaan membentuk bonggol berbentuk umbi. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan purple morning-glory. Nama ilmiah Ipomoea capillacea diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Carl Sigismund Kunth pada tahun 1837.
