Ipomoea chrysochaetia merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Convolvulaceae (suku kangkung-kangkungan). Spesies ini memiliki kebiasaan tumbuh memanjat. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari kawasan tropis Afrika bagian barat hingga Sudan Selatan dan Angola. Nama ilmiah Ipomoea chrysochaetia pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Ernst Hans Hallier pada tahun 1893.
