Ipomoea cicatricosa merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk perdu atau pohon dari famili Convolvulaceae (suku kangkung-kangkungan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Ethiopia hingga Kenya. Nama ilmiah Ipomoea cicatricosa diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama John Gilbert Baker pada tahun 1895.
