Ipomoea coptica var. acuta merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Convolvulaceae (suku kangkung-kangkungan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering. Nama ilmiah Ipomoea coptica var. acuta diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Jacques Denys Choisy pada tahun 1845.
