Ipomoea coscinosperma merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Convolvulaceae (suku kangkung-kangkungan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di kawasan tropis Afrika dan Afrika Selatan. Nama ilmiah Ipomoea coscinosperma diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Christian Ferdinand Friedrich Hochstetter pada tahun 1845.
