Ipomoea funis merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Convolvulaceae (suku kangkung-kangkungan) yang memiliki kebiasaan membentuk umbi di bawah tanah (geofit) dan berpola tumbuh memanjat. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di wilayah Meksiko. Nama ilmiah Ipomoea funis pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Adelbert von Chamisso pada tahun 1830.
