Ipomoea hederifolia merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Convolvulaceae (suku kangkung-kangkungan). Spesies ini memiliki kebiasaan tumbuh memanjat. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di wilayah kawasan tropis dan subtropis Amerika . Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan scarletcreeper. Nama ilmiah Ipomoea hederifolia diperkenalkan oleh Carolus Linnaeus pada tahun 1759.
