Ipomoea heptaphylla merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Convolvulaceae (suku kangkung-kangkungan). Spesies ini memiliki kebiasaan tumbuh memanjat. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di kawasan tropis dan subtropis Amerika . Nama ilmiah Ipomoea heptaphylla pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Robert Sweet pada tahun 1830.
