Ipomoea hirsutissima merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Convolvulaceae (suku kangkung-kangkungan). Spesies ini memiliki kebiasaan membentuk bonggol berbentuk umbi. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Bolivia timur hingga Brazil tengah dan Paraguay. Nama ilmiah Ipomoea hirsutissima pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis George Gardner pada tahun 1842.
