Isatis taurica merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Brassicaceae (suku sawi-sawian). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Krym hingga Kaukasia barat laut. Nama ilmiah Isatis taurica diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Friedrich August Marschall von Bieberstein pada tahun 1819.
