Isolepis hystrix merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Cyperaceae (suku teki-tekian). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis di wilayah Provinsi Cape. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan bottlebrush bulrush. Nama ilmiah Isolepis hystrix pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Carl Peter Thunberg pada tahun 1832.
