Jaltomata aspera merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Solanaceae (suku terong-terongan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah di wilayah Peru (Lima). Nama ilmiah Jaltomata aspera diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Hipólito Ruiz López pada tahun 1992.
