Jarilla chocola merupakan tumbuhan perdu kecil dari famili Caricaceae (suku pepaya-pepayaan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Meksiko hingga El Salvador barat. Nama ilmiah Jarilla chocola pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Paul Carpenter Standley pada tahun 1937.
