Justicia axillaris merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Acanthaceae (suku jeruju-jerujuan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Paraguay timur hingga Brazil selatan dan Argentina timur laut. Nama ilmiah Justicia axillaris pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Christian Gottfried Daniel Nees von Esenbeck pada tahun 1903.
