Lacmellea edulis merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk pohon dari famili Apocynaceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Panama hingga kawasan tropis Amerika selatan. Nama ilmiah Lacmellea edulis diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Gustav Karl Wilhelm Hermann Karsten pada tahun 1857.
