Lagerstroemia petiolaris merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Lythraceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Kamboja hingga Vietnam. Nama ilmiah Lagerstroemia petiolaris diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Jean Baptiste Louis Pierre pada tahun 1918.
