Larix kaempferi merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk pohon dari famili Pinaceae (suku pinus-pinusan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang di wilayah Jepang tengah. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan japanese larch. Nama ilmiah Larix kaempferi pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Aylmer Bourke Lambert pada tahun 1856.
