Lasiacis procerrima merupakan tumbuhan semusim atau menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Meksiko hingga Brazil bagian utaraa dan Peru. Nama ilmiah Lasiacis procerrima diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Eduard Hackel pada tahun 1911.
