Lasiacis rhizophora merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Meksiko, Venezuela, hingga Greater Antilles. Nama ilmiah Lasiacis rhizophora pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Eugène Pierre Nicolas Fournier pada tahun 1911.
