Leucas hirta merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Lamiaceae (suku nilam-nilaman) yang tumbuh dalam bentuk perdu kecil atau semak. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di wilayah India selatan. Nama ilmiah Leucas hirta diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Benjamin Heyne pada tahun 1825.
