Lonicera caerulea merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk perdu dari famili Caprifoliaceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang di wilayah Eurasia beriklim sedang. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan sweetberry honeysuckle. Nama ilmiah Lonicera caerulea pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Carolus Linnaeus dalam Species Plantarum tahun 1753.
